Parabens

Parabens are a group of chemical preservatives commonly used in cosmetics and personal care products. These substances are added to extend the shelf life of the products and to prevent microorganisms from contaminating the product. The most commonly used types of paraben are methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben and butylparaben.

However, allergic reactions to parabens may occur, especially in children and individuals with sensitive skin. These reactions usually appear as redness, itching and rash on the skin. In some cases, more serious reactions may also occur.

Another worrying feature of parabens is that they can have estrogen-like effects in the body. This is of particular concern to children as it has an impact on hormonal balance. Some research suggests that parabens may affect estrogen levels, causing hormone imbalances.

As a result, it is thought that parabens may cause potential allergic reactions and hormonal effects in children and individuals with sensitive skin. Therefore, it may be important to pay attention to the paraben content, especially in cosmetic products for children, and to choose paraben-free alternatives if possible.
